Spicey, how could I say NO!!! a phone call comes in, a ex abused horse looking for a home… what a gem of a pony, and my old man, he has been beaten and scared for life, and yet he doesn’t have a nasty bone in his body, he is an elderly man, and so willing to please, Spicey you looking the little ones the way you do, is the most any horse can ever do and I am so glad that you are “home” and safe and sound!!!
Cheryl, how can we forget you, so now it is time for Jessica to get a horse… so off horse shopping I go!! And yes, it is another story of driving to the other end of the world to look for a horse!! And low and behold, its Potch this time, and we found Jessica the most perfect 16hh bay gelding, Eternity Road, aka Smurf….. this horse is mad for Jessica!! In actually fact as horses and humans go, these two can be one!! They are peas in a pod, all calm and collected once second and without even noticing it, they both a fizz bomb with no explanation….. but how could Cheryl leave behind poor Smurfs buddy, (and hey I was not complaining) what a horse did we find in Toast to Life, what a gem of a horse, he might be a huge massive horse, but he is a little puppy underneath it all… both these horses have snuck into the yard and fitted in like they have been here all the time…. Thanks Cheryl for finding two very special horses.
Yarnmaster (my race horse) finally you get to retire and come home to me. This was a day I will NEVER forget. What a horse, what a nature and what a combination I found in you and Montana. The bond between horse and rider is so clear with these two and I could have never ever found a better team than the two of you, Yarnie, my boy, thank you for being such a level headed ex-race horse, so willing to please and so eager to learn… you make me want more ex race horses!!!Then Santi joined the team with her old lady, Tinsel town, aka MARE!! She is the eldest horse in the yard and still acts like a 3 year old when Santi does actually sit on her back!! Ha ha .. but she is soo sweet and got such lovely manners and really has fitted in and is part of the furniture!! she is now 30 years old and going strong… what a awesome horse and i am privileged to have the old lady at the yard
Jewel of Cashel, one would never say you an ex-race horse, or Yarnie half-sister, you are HUGE and make any horse look like a pony. Retired from racing due to being just too big and a horrible back injury, I know after a rest you will be right as rain and I just cannot wait to start working with you, I am sure you will have the same relaxed willing attitude that your brother has and looking forward to a relationship that will go on for years!!! Jewel has since lost her eye but is a excellent school horse and an amazing ride with a heart of Gold.
Firefly had a little baby boy, Zorro.. .wow what a horse, dad is Arthur, and he is just as big as his mother with the looks from his father, what more can I say… he is just one pitch black stunning looking boy. backing this boy has been a dream come true and Mike has done a awesome job on bring this baby on so nicely, an easier horse i couldnt find… he went to his first show and scored a 62% in his dressage test… a prouder moment i could not have asked for. this boy now stands at over 17hh, watch this space… he is going to be a awesome horse
Then Yvonne back into the attack and sends me the cutest photo of a little grey pony, Gulliver… so after working Greg and convincing him that Hannah needs a pony for her 3rd Birthday… off I go to the other end of the world to look at a little pony.. man alive what a cute little pony he is… and just soo gentle and wonderful…. Gulliver is a gem of a pony and looks after Hannah so nicely… really couldn’t have found a better pony … (who I might add is not the typical pony with typical pony attitude) … cannot wait until Hannah can jump and ride him without me leading her!! It is going to be the cutest partnership around. Hannah has since outgrown this little fellow.. but he is still at the yard and she plays with him daily.
The came another ex race horse, Collenel Monel… AKA Clueless.. and what a gem is this.. watch out dressage devas here comes me and clue. This is my new up and coming dressage pony.!! Ha ha .. pony.. all of 17hh high and 20hh wide… he has movement to die for… and a heart of gold… although he is a orange pony.. he is really such a gem of a horse and riding him is just a dream come true!!
the came Saskia and Old Man……
And this is my yard … of happy horses.. there are VERY IMPORTANT people that makes the yard a happy horsie yard.. and I would be totally lost and trust me .. the horses would be very unhappy.. if it were not for Vincent, who sadly passed away, we miss you and cherish everything you did for the horses… you will always be a part of TLC stables, no matter where you are……. To Doctor ,Linkson and David .. they are their grooms, their friend and their walking feed bags I can sleep at night knowing that all the horses are loved and cared for by them and nothing in the world is ever too much for Doctor Linkson or David as they love the horses and takes pride in their work!! Thank you so much for everything you do and I know that I wouldn’t be where I am if it was not for all his help with the horses Lastly to Greg, my beloved Husband and father of my two precious children, Hannah and Cameron….. , you have been a pillar of strength.. not to just move things and put up stables and carry grass, and food bins and help box horses and the list go on… but to me emotionally, you always there for me when nature rears its ugly head to just remind me how grateful I should be that I have what I have and I couldn’t have done all of this without your loyal and loving support… I know there were times when you wished you could just knocked sense into me.. and I know there will be and has been plenty of times were you would have loved to say “I told you so” but have not!! For this my love I will be forever grateful
